Nexus 4 FAQ

The Nexus 4 FAQ covers commonly asked questions. This list is built from questions that have come my way on Twitter, via the forum or things that I wondered myself (I am a Nexus 4 owner!).

If your question is answered below, then please ask away in the Phone forum.

Starting Out

Who Makes the Nexus 4?
The Nexus 4 phone is made by LG, with design input from Google.

When was the Nexus 4 Released?
The N4 came to market in November 2012, it sold out almost instantly and has experienced supply problems in the early moths of availability.

Where Can I buy a One?
The Nexus 4 has been hard to find in stock. The best place to look is in the Google Play store, here you can buy the unlocked SIM free model. It can be found through various retail outlets, or on ebay, but expect to pay higher prices.

Hardware

What are the Storage Options?
You get a choice of either an 8gb or 16gb model. Rumours of a 32gb Nexus 4 can be found around the net, especially after the Nexus 7 tablet was given a bump up to this level soon after release. However there has been no official word on this. The phone has no SD card expansion option.

Is the Nexus 4 battery life any good?
It’s generally thought to be about average for a smartphone of this size and processing power. It doesn’t have a stand out battery life, but neither is it particularly poor. I find that it lasts a few days with general use, more if it just sits in my pocket. Even with heavy use it will keep going all day. As always, your milage may vary.

What processor does the nexus 4 have?
The LG phone packs a very smart Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset, quad-core 1.5GHz processor. This is a very quick, premium chip. Make no mistake, the Nexus 4 is a very quick phone!

What is the screen resolution of the Nexus 4?
The phone’s resolution sits at 1,280 X 768 pixels. This is a decent HD screen which looks great. Personally I love the 4.7″ screen, it’s a great size and the phone is still very pocketable as it is slim and light.

Is the Battery Removable?
Unfortunately not, the continuing trend for fixed batteries continues. Just remember to recycle it when your done.

Misc Questions

Is the Nexus 4 better than an iPhone?
