How can I transfer documents from my laptop to my Nexus 7. I use Oracle Open Office 3.3 for documents on my laptop and can’t find an app for that on Google Play
I am not familiar with Oracle, but if the documents are in a standard format like .doc or .txt then you should be able to copy them across by connecting your N7 directly to your PC, or wirelessly by Drop box. I use Kingsoft office to write / edit my docs – it’s free and is able to open all my Word and PowerPoint files – even password protected ones. You might also need a file manager like ES File Explorer (also free) to help you move around, find and open files etc.
If you plug your Nexus into an USB Port on your Laptop, using the Charger cable that comes with your Nexus, after a short wait you will see in (My) Computer a new ‘drive’ called Nexus 7 Portable Media Player.
Double click it… opens another window – showing Internal storage – double click THAT and you see all the folders in your Nexus…
Of course; when you first plug in and switch on your Nexus 7 – you will also have the choice, from Auto play to Open device to view files – which takes you straight to ‘Internal Storage’.
From there you can drag and drop your various types of files to…
Documents -Music – Kindle – eBooks – Movies – Pictures – Podcasts & etc.,
where the Nexus Apps will know to look for their ‘own’ kinds of files…
(My) Computer will also show you the ’amount of space’ bar under the ‘Internal storage’ view so you can decide if/whether to delete stuff from the Nexus.
Finally – You can just unplug your Nexus from the Laptop – there is no mechanism to eject or safely remove (Not in Windows 7 anyway)
Hope this is helpful to you (all)
